loki, I like this DIY better than the ABWC's in your FAQ, it doesn't require vampire clips and is a much cleaner install. Maybe you can throw it int he faq as another option?

DanM3, this truly is a simple install and I am not mechanically or electronically inclined.

p.s. loki, I still owe you the rattle fix, will try to get it done this 4th july weekend.

here are some very crude pics of my v1 install, works great!

it still requires the tap for power. Don't u think it looks kinda messy w/ the wires hanging down like that?

the display is not concealed. Everyone behind you (including cops) can see the display. If I ever get stopped I don't want the cop to know I have a detector. I prefer to have the concealed display down low where nobody else can see it, even though you have to take your eyes off the road for a second to look at it.

I agree. I just like the way it looks and I think you can dim the display.

What a complete car!

So does GregW's install of the remote right in the dash. But that's a bit too much surgery on the car for me. And it doesn't work if you have SMG. The mirror idea is good if you don't really care that much about stealth. And an extra mirror (if you ever want to return the car to stock completely) wouldn't cost as much as a dash (I don't believe).

The other option (the one I prefer) is installing the remote in the ash tray. It's pretty slick, can replace the remote with ash tray in a few secs, can be hidden by closing the ash tray lid, and I don't smoke (or allow anyone in the car to smoke) anyway. Now, if there were only a way to hide the V1 unit itself ...

tail to see that little bit of light through tint. The just hit the dim switch under the mirror like your adjusting the mirror and you see nothing buy a regular mirror. There are no cut outs for the lights when they're turned off.

To bad it's too much trouble to do with auto-dimming mirrors.

It appeared that the wire eminated from the mirror mount. So U just ran it down the outside from under the interior lamps?
