I currently own a 2001 330i sedan. How do I go about getting (or trying to get) an M3? Is it as easy as placing an order at a dealer, or is there some sort of waiting list and/or lottery?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Call up dealers around your area and pick their brains, see if they are asking anything over MSRP, how long their waiting list is, how soon they can spec out a car for you, etc...

Availability varies from dealer to dealer. Some are still saying 6-12 month waits, but there are some dealers that can take orders immediately. Also, cabs are easier to get than coupes. You might get lucky and find a dealer with one coming in soon because many people are backing out now. It may not be exactly what you want, but it might be close enough.

Most dealerships are going to require a $1000-$4000 deposit.

We never say bad things about 6 speeds because we are so happy with our choice. We have all owned 6 speeds before. 6 speeders like this guy are so eager to get people to agree with them. It's weird.

beating we "6 speeders" took from SMG owners. I recall coments like we're all in denial.
