After having stared at it for several minutes, and also asking my wife's opinion, I've decided that whoever created the tire inflation pressure placard on my car must have been drunk when they did the job.

There's a small, but complicated table showing recommended pressures for both 18- and 19-inch wheels, front and rear, with light and heavy loads in the car. There are little triangle and circle symbols that are apparently supposed to help you distinguish between the settings for the two wheel sizes, but they don't make any sense. I'll post a picture later--right now I'm feeling lazy, and there's not much room where the car is currently parked.

What do *you* think the inflation pressures are supposed to be, for 18-inch wheels at light and heavy loads? I'm guessing 33 front and 35 rear for light loads, but this easily the most confusing placard I've ever seen.

Your guess of 33 front and 35 rear is right, but the car will handle better -- more neutral, less understeer -- if you reverse the recommendation and put 35 front, 33 rear. Lot's of people go even a few pounds higher on the front.

I find if I go lower than 36 on the front, the understeer is excessive and I think you may damage your rims on potholes as well. The ride is a little harsh w/ 38F and 36R but I think this will give you the best all around compromise for protection of your rims, tire wear and handling.

I run 40f/40r. So far, no problems.
