Here is a pic of my new M3 with a 6 speed manual SMG, yes this is a manual transmision with clutch and SMG2(sequential). The car has been special ordered from the middle east(uae)! ...and yes this is the first car in the world with duel transmision!!!

(sorry for the pic quality, it was taken at night!)

how do you choose the different modes for SMG? and I'm assuming you can't go back and forth between the two types of transmissions on the fly..... interesting..............peculiar...

No switching is required, both transmissions are on 24/7....also, when shifting on SMG, it's always on S6, so no S1-S5, and there is no auto unfortunately!

This is the yahoo who said he already has a 2003 even though they don't exist yet. According to him they do where he is from, he also had a Silver M3 last week not sure of this ones color doen't look silver though. Maybe Osma Bin Laden made the car for him.

So how does one know how to over ride the other? So let's say your in 4th in SMG and you use the the shifter to go into 5th... how does the tranny what the heck is going on? I can see some MAJOR issues with this... I can't begin to understand how this works.. oh well.. hope you're enyoying it..

I think you meant dual, not duel.

But the term seems to apply rather well to your fantasy photoshop gearbox. If both SMG and the pedal/shifter were connected, you'd have the 1200 psi SMG hydraulics throwing them around breaking your wrist and ankle when click the paddle and forget to move your foot out of the way and take your hand off the shifter.

My question would be "why post such an obvious farce to the board?"

Owner's manual says not to use S6 during the first 1200 miles. I guess you'll just have to shift manually for a while, but I'm sure the "special order" car was already broken-in at the factory for you. Too bad you didn't get the "Special, special" order which has SMG, manual 6-speed, steptronic, and 4-wheel drive. You get paddles and 3 shift levers: 1 for manual; 1 for steptronic; and one for 4-wheel drive. Enjoy your "special" order car.

SHEEEEEEESH!!!! looooooooooool This was just a joke i made up, and all i got were offensive and unnecessary replies!!! take it easy guys!

I took my car to the dealer to have the shadow trim installed on the steering wheel of my M3, and the guys installed a whole new steering wheel with SMG paddles on it(w/ shadow trim)! ...yes it's a mistake and im talking my car back to them tommorrow to have it fixed(they appologized a billion times btw!)

note:no MCJ, your the IDIOT!

and "coldsteele35" for your info, i'm taking a pic of my VIN# and posting it soon to prove to you that i have a 2003 model! ...so suck it up!

If you want to post a joke, it kinda makes sense to label it as such, at least at the bottom.

If you'd posted the joke, and put at the end the actual story of how it happened, I doubt you would have gotten any flames.

The fact that you were not smart enough to know that you'd get flamed for posting an obvious lie to the board is what is funny to me. Most people who post wildly innacurate claims know they are going to generate all sorts of reaction, and they are usually looking forward to that reaction - we call these people _trolls_, and that's what you look like today.

From the beginning it was obviously a photoshop job or the wrong steering wheel; seriousness of the text an obvious play on it.

Some of you should consider switching to decaf.

If your theory about jokes were true, then no one would have flamed you, right? Everyone else is an idiot, and you're the one who knows how things really are - correct?

Again - the funniest part of your post is that you were too clueless to know you'd get flamed for posting serious misinformation under the guise of a "joke".

When stuff like this get's out, the photo and the story lives on far beyond the joke, and it's us folks here who have to dig out the reference and answer the questions of dozens of newbies who come here asking about the "duel transmission" option over the next year or so.

I'm not a racist I was just trying to state it impossible for you to have a PRODUCTION 03 they are not in production yet so you got had if someone told you it was a 03. I have no idea if you are arabic/Jewish/black/white I've never seen a picture of you. So to accuse me of that is a load of crap. Hell you don't even know what I am, maybe i'm your neighbor. It said Osama bin laden because you happen to mention UAE. So get over it.

P.S. I want to know how you do spidey!

Although I hate to admit it, I've been using the Internet since before the invention of the little smiley-face icons that are so common now. Many, many people have discovered the hard way that irony and tongue-in-cheek humor often don't work over email (or forums like this), because people can't tell you're joking. The problem is that there are people out there saying things that are even more ridiculous than what you posted, but THEY'RE SERIOUS!

For instance: shortly before the first M3s came out, there was a guy on this board who insisted he was getting a special-order M3 with an M5 engine installed by the BMW factory. This guy was, as far as anyone could tell, 100% serious about this. About the time his car was supposed to show up, he disappeared mysteriously, and hasn't been seen around here since.

I'm not that fond of smileys, because they've been massively over-used by some people, but sometimes you really need them.
