Driver education road course during the third 15minute session of the day on the track, (15min on, 30+ off). Trying to perfect the "perfect line", not really trying to push with SMG in A5, DSC on, just through the straightaway at 95mph (4th gear?), hard brake, then through a chicane at about 50 mph at one-quarter throttle in 3rd gear I felt a little engine rumble. Within 0.5 seconds complete shutdown. Engine oil temp indicated one quarter of the way between 210 and 300F. Car drained oil during towback. Dropped off at dealer late Fri night, no news yet. Service indicator had 2000 mi until next service, but had added a quart of 10W-60 at 6000mi.

Conventional wisdom is to wait a while for problems to be worked out. Not in this case.

I've been browsing through this forum for quite a while now and I've noticed that most of the car seems to be US spec M3s. As mentioned previously, I have a 6/01 M3 with approximately 8000 km and so far I've had no engine issues (other than differential) to date. I wonder if this is just a coincidence or there is any relevance to this information. Any ideas?
