Well, with all the dreaming I've done for the last 10 weeks, funny thing is they weren't as fun as the real thing. The cinnamon wasn't as nice, the handling wasn't as crisp or precise, the sound of the motor and the exhaust wasn't as invogorating, the speed and accelleration wasn't even close, and the quality of the interior still amazes me..

Never mind my questions about any quality "problems". Sheesh, I spent so much time reading this board that it might have gotten me slightly paranoid. What you guys didn't mention was how simply AWESOME the car is! :)

More later. In a nutshell, I'm very impressed, can see why you'd say "just drive it"!
Got the car Friday night about 6, did the usual drive around/orientation with my tech(who will be great, I can tell). Saturday morning, buzzed around some local loops in the woods/hills(OK, and Friday night too, but stormy and rainy and lots of pine needles on the road)and visited a lot of friends all day. Went up to Portland on I5 for another 100 miles round trip. Bugged a lot of people with my speeding up/slowing down:)While always being careful to keep it under 5,000 rpm, I think I've had 2 slip ups all weekend where I would accidentally shift down with the paddle instead of up. Just barely got to 6k those two times, and it was only because I was in Second gear and a little confused. Going from 4 to 2 would cause this, or from 3 to 1 maybe, but after break in wouldn't be a problem. Overall, the paddle and shifter system with the SMG is FUN, EASY to figure out, and smooth.. I only got the lurch, lurch a couple times when being undecided from 1 to 2 in s5. Got the knack of it now, though:) I still marvel at anyone not enjoying the SMG. It's wonderful, and my girlfriend handled it easily, loved it too, and she's no car nut like me. Another couple buddies tried it and are just in AWE! They were good at it, too. One is a Posche 911 owner, and he said the car handled like it, was better quality, and loved the SMG! Made me proud. My other Buddy is a long time collector of other cars(mostly older ones, nothing too expensive) and he just had a ball doing the Silver Falls Tour loop(you all have to try this place in your M3). He was addicted. This is all driving with no revs above 4500 even, and the car was so fast and responsive. I can't imagine what life will be like over 7k!

Sunday, took the hard top off. Took a little while getting over the dissapointment(very little) of the extra noise level of the soft top, but had an awesome drive to the coast and up and down the coastline of Oregon's NorthWest corner. Car was lovin it!! The car did shake a little more without hardtop on. Kinda suprised at this difference, but, again, got used to it, and still handled amazing. Through the mountains on the way home it was just pouring(as it was off and on all weekend) and she handled those big sweeping uphill/downhill turns like a dream. Raced past cars like they were standing still, even while staying below 4500 rpm. 60-90 in just a couple seconds, uphill to boot!

The hardtop looks awesome on the car, too, as said by many. The aluminum trim was first class, and goes great with the Cinnamon and black combo, as expected. I didn't expect the quality fit and finish of the rest, though. It's amazingly clean and plush looking, yet sporty, of course. The HK system is just what I expected. Adequate, solid quality, but speaker flobbled a bit near my left ear when played too loud, and not that loud, really. Turning down Bass helped a lot, and still sounded good. I might check out the one speaker, though.

The sound of the exhaust! I can tell what you're talking about with the rasp, guys, but I love it. I also was suprised to hear a really nice low growl when the car is under an uphill load. Really nice. Really in command of the road with it's wide stance whilst handling foul conditions(rain and wind and traffic). Without hardtop, the car definitely tells you about bumpy roads, but I'm lucky here, as they are usually pretty smooth. A real pleasant suprise what that hardtop does for firming up the car and quieting things down. This is the best of all worlds, my friends!

Whew, sorry for the windyness!!
