I own a 2002 BMW M3 coupe (6 speed). I know the C32 is a different breed of car than M3, however, they are pretty damn close acceleration wise. Anybody driven both or know how they compare 0-70 or 70 MPH +? A guy at work has one and tells me he'll smoke me. I say it might be close, but I'll take him in turns. By the way, I am very good with the stick :)

They should be about the same till around 100mph where the supercharger and the Mercs aerodynamics will help out. It might pull 1/2 a car(if that) up to 150, but smoke? No way in hell, those extra doors arent light and the car "handles like a fish on a bicycle".

its a very easy car to mod cheaply and actually get real horsepower gains... stock to stock in a straight line should be very close (published numbers favor the M3).

you'll win to ~100, the C32 will beat you to the limiter from there. If there are turns the C32 will wreck trying to stay with you. If the C32 has been modded, it will beat you to 100, then wreck - either way you'll win.

when deciding on what car to buy i test drove both. After i drove the c32, i was a little disappointed and felt it was little overhyped. When i test drove the m3 i had much higher expectations than i did for the c32 being a current bmw owner. The m3 far exceeded my expectations, and "felt" much sportier than the c32. The c32 was not exciting enough for me. In my opinion the m3 is a much better and sportier "feeling" car more for enthusiasts, thats why i chose it. I was even offered a very good deal on the c32 because a good friend of mine is the head of the sales department at a mercedes dealership, still I paid sticker for my m3 and don't think i will ever regret it. Just my opinion on the two cars.

The C32 is a nice car but felt a bit too dull. It pulled hard but too much body roll. It didnt feel sporty at all. So I chose the M3 over all. Both LUX and SPORT. I did like the auto in the MB but the 6 speed it got is a ease to throw around anyways.

But give me the new E55...I would convert to AUTO in a sec...
<IMG SRC="http://members.roadfly.com/neko/new.jpg"

Back in the '70s, some women were wearing T-shirts that said "A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle." Not exactly the same quote, but it's not too hard to imagine that the handling quote came from this one.
