control the lean better....has nothing to do with ride quality....swaybars work in concert with spring rate...so stiffer spring would also help control lean....but with stock suspension....you will see a difference immediately....will it be as good as a coilover/swaybar combo, with spring rates that have been well thought out...no...but...you will see a difference, in how the car reacts to turns...even with the stock suspension....

Great upgrade, that can be felt immediately...no dyno needed...:-)<br><font color=maroon><font size=1><font>

the rest of the suspension is stock because stiffening the sways reduces a major weakness (roll/lean) of the stock suspension setup. I noticed an immediate difference after only adding the GC sways. Obviously, adding adj coils could further improve the ride & give more adjustability, but the adjustable sways have to give the best bang for the buck. That's my opinion.

since I can't afford coilovers anyway, I'm ordering the sways when I get a bonus in March. I can really only afford one upgrade per year. Last year it was track wheels and tires and camber plates.
This year it's sways.

car is much flatter in turns... much better behaved in general.

i agree with someone's post below that said a major weakness of the stock setup is the body roll. and also its bias toward understeer.

UMP has also said that he thinks the stock setup is too soft for the car's power, and i'm inclined to agree... the car feels much more solid under acceleration out of corners with the swaybars. it just hooks up better. many times i expect DSC to kick in but it just grabs and accelerates, even with the car still rotating as i accelerate out of the turn.

obviously i think having coilovers, in addition to the swaybars, would be much better... but it looks like i can't get those for a couple months! you could say i've been sucked into suspension mods now.<br>

Anybody done this mod with a cab? I assume the effect would be similarly beneficial, if less pronounced.<br>Mike Metzger

Without swaybars, each corner of your car has the same spring rate whether the compression is due to dive/squat, bumps, or transitional cornering.

Swaybars allow you to have a higher spring rate (two springs in effect, the coil spring and the swaybar) when cornering than in dive/squat. That's all they do. So in many respects, if the spring rate is adequate for straight-line use, then swaybars is *all* you need.

Unfortunately, they have a couple of negative side effects, such as negating some of the independent wheel movement on one end of the car. So some suspension tuners would rather tune spring rate with the regular coil (or whatever) springs, and then add just one swaybar to the end that needs it for handling balance.

But each to his own. Swaybars are a cheap and easy way to increase the spring rate when cornering, and as folks here have mentioned, the difference can be quite noticeable.
