Here is the e-mail I got from the M3 factory in Regensburg, Germany.

Hello Mr.Ozgen,
only the series 3 coupé and convertible will get some cosmetic changes starting in March.
But the are no changes on the M3. I you have any other questions, go ahead!

Greets,

Christopher Bach

The 155 mph limit is a gentlemens agreement between German car manufacturers. Maybe just BMW, MB and Porsche, I don't know. But, there is a +/- 5% in that. Add to that the optimistic speedo and you can get up to around 170 mph on the M3 speedometer. It's a pretty sure bet that it's not going that fast really. It's probably somewhere around 160 - 165. And I would guess that every M3 is a bit different. So, some might be a little bit faster or slower. But, 175 mph is probably stretching it without mods.

Checked against Garmin GPS up to 158 indicated, 152 actual. Figure ~6-8 mph variance at indicated 182. That was at sea level with Texas in July humidity and temperature. 175 is realistic top speed for bone-stock M3.<br><font color=#65625E><font size=2>
