It's like a coupe, but with a glass roof, that can be folded away, or taken off.
It's used by Porsche for the 911 series.

The targa roof was invented by Porsche in the sixties, its the center section of the roof which canbe taken out.
They named it targa after the targa florio,a very popular long distance road race in italy until the mid sixties,it was the first major race in which Porsche could win overall victories.

The latest Porsche Targa's roof is simlilar to the Mercedes-Benz panoramic glass roofs that open electrically...that first picture of the 6 sure looks like there is a dark tinted glass roof on it...I think Auto Spies could be on to something

From th e6-series official press release:

Other Features Include Head-Up Display and Glass Panorama Roof

The standard glass panorama roof gives the interior an even more spacious and brighter feel, especially since the panorama roof is much larger than a conventional moonroof. It offers a vent feature and an electric sliding roofliner.
