You can tell several things:

- Time of day really matters. If you post in the middle of the night even the people waking up the next morning will miss it.

- People LOVE LOVE LOVE posts with URLs or PICs! I think from now on every time I ask an important or serious question I'm going to throw in a random URL/PIC to get people's attention.

- I've noticed over the past six months or so that IMO the board has become much less serious and more "clique-like". There's less hard discussion and information being thrown around and more PICs/URLs, bullpooping, small talk, jabs between members of the board, etc. Not as interesting as it was say a year and a half ago (early 2002) when I first started reading it.

Perhaps it's just a function of the car aging. Back in early 2002 it was still a new car with lots of things to figure out and discuss. Nowadays we've got it all pretty much figured out and we're all focusing on aftermarket modifictions, etc.

Interesting stuff indeed. I'm considering a url or a pic for even this post!

Post counts and views are WAY down on Saturday and Sunday as compared with the rest of the week.

What will be interesting to see are the most often-viewed threads. It will also be interesting to compare the hit count on a typical "FS" post as compared with the hit counts on various classified ads (we recently added counters there too). People always assume they'll get a lot of views for a FS ad on the boards, but the truth is that those scroll away so quickly that over a 1 week period an ad will get way more views in the classifieds.
part of the post now.

Just an observation - not complaint. Gotta pay the bills ;-)

It used to be right above the message title, but that pushed down the body of the message too far making people have to scroll to see it sometimes, so we decided to move it from there to under the message so people could see the message first.
...more work to do. Also, we just added a thread hit counter. Since we just added it, it will look a little weird with fewer thread hits than post hits in some threads for a little bit. Also, if the same person clicks on several posts in one thread, it won't necessarily increase the thread counter because we try to track that within a session to keep the counts as accurate as possible.
The thread counter is in some sense the number of different people who have read a particular thread.

Take a thread with three posts in it. If you and I each view the first post, we each view the second post, and we each view the third post, the post count on each of those 3 posts will be "2". But, the thread count will also be "2", not "6", because there were only two of us that viewed the posts in the thread.

In the same thread with three posts, if you view the first post, I view the second post, I also view the first post, and 15 people view the third post, the thread count will be 17. Why is it 17 rather than 18? Because my view of the first post and the second post didn't count as two thread views--they were one thread view even though they were multiple post views.
Newbies could benefit from a digest of past endeavors and solutions (and
not cause the board to repeat itself so much).

Then again, maybe someone could volunteer to create a more performance
oriented FAQ. And another could create the bling-bling FAQ, hehee

All linked on the right column. To be honest, i haven't checked Loki's FAQ in
a while.

good idea - you can't miss them now and you may get some bonus hits with errant clicks.
