to maneuver through. I know for a fact that this is the case where I live. I have to fold mine (manually) to park on the upper level of a ferry to get to work. With mirrors folded, it makes the car about 8-10" narrower (just a guess).

Ciao,

Jeff

It's another option that isn't carried into US models because it's not helpful to most owners. If it were carried for the few that would order it, it would just be yet another option that needs to be inventoried, serviced, maintained, etc., etc. BMW NA (specifically, I believe Tom Salkowsky) minimizes the number of options that US cars get.

Most owners don't find it very useful because if anyone parked anywhere to that close their vehicle, they'd sh</z>it a brick. I mean, in CA, there's so much room to park, except for some cities. Even in most of the East Coast, there's space. Maybe in places like NYC and Boston, where you literally do have inches of clearance between cars moving along and cars parked along the road, would it be actually useful.

It is useful to some people in tight garages, though. Many people have noted that it's good for a tight 2-car garage and you need the extra couple of inches to get through without dropping all your groceries or scratching the car.<br>---

seriously though, at least it's functional, as opposed to most of the cosmetic mods that we all spend a fortune on.

(E36) as she was squeezing past it in the garage. Luckily it clipped back on no problem, although I had a cow at the time. She said I had parked it too close to the wall, but that was because I didn't want anyone to walk down by the side. Oh well. If I lived in Europe I'd almost certainly get the power folding mirrors.

often quite narrow and people habitually fold up their mirrors when they park on the street.
