my 19 year old son. I'm looking for some fun things to do away from the strip and downtown. Any one there with inside information? We're driving my fiver down from Portland so it should be a fun trip. Thanks in advance.

you can take the Hoover Dam Tour, or as we call it the "dam tour". They take you down into the bowels of the Hoover Dam, truly an experience. Not to mention it's darn cool down there.

You can also take the paddle wheel out on Lake Mead and take the dinner tour. Beautiful in the evening.

Valley of Fire would be my next choice. Natural monuments of all sorts out there and well worth the drive. Only a couple of hours round trip, and beauty beyond. Good driving territory too !!

Red Rock is the next choice along with the back route to places like Blue Diamond, Whitney Ranch, and the little stops back there where Charleston bends South around the western mountain range. About 45 minutes drive as a loop from I-15 back around off the Blue Diamond turn off up to Charleston, or vice versa.

You two can go sky diving for about $150 a piece out at North Las Vegas Airport if you're feely daring, although eat very little prior. Fruit seems to stay down rather well. : )

If you want cheap thrills, go to the top of the Stratosphere (1600 ft up) and ride the rollercoaster. It's short but it'll make you weak in the knees. Dinner at the "Top of the Stratosphere" is always nice as it rotates 360 degrees every 80 minutes. A bit pricey, but the New York is worth every dollar. Deeelicious.

What else do you want to know ???.

Hope some of this helps,

GB, A.
