I'm a recent convert to MB from BMW. I've cruised the roadfly E39 board for years. But since the emergence of the hideous new E60, I'm going to have to part with my beloved E39 at the end of my lease in Feb. About that same time my new E55 should arrive in the states.

I've always liked the roadfly format and I'm sure this board will start to fill up fast with others like me who have left BMW after they decided to make the "Ultimate Pontiac machine"!

Hope all is well. I'm also planning on an E55 next year if business continues as it has been. Check my recent posts in the E39 Lounge of some E60s that are sure to get a laugh out of you. Truly hideous.
Alan... I'm going to stick with Black exterior and the charcoal & Blue interior. The blacks a pain in the butt to keep clean but when it's clean its sharp. I Put my deposit down in April and I finally got my MB netstar order confirmation last week. It says my car will go into production in early January. Can't wait!

Hey Dallas! Enjoy that beautiful E39 of yours, then when it's time to look for new wheels...turn to the dark side...join us!

My friend used to have a black on black CLK 430. I know it is a pain to keep black cars clean, but when they are freshly washed and waxed there isn't anything better-looking.

Production in January--not too much longer of a wait then! Congrats! :)
I like the silver as well, but black with tint and those AMG wheels just looks HOT. If I get one I'll end up with the solid charcoal interior. I keep meaning to stop by the dealer, but the last time I did that I ended up driving home in a different car. :-) I have the itch to get an SUV for the tax break, perhaps a used Range Rover or Lexus LX, so I think I'll hold on to the E39 for at least a year or so. The combined 540/SUV payments is about the same as just the E55. Plus I'm not even slightly tired of this car after 6 months, which is saying a lot for me. We're taking a Christmas road trip home together to California (3000 miles) and will further bond. Anyways, I can't wait to see the pics and review when you get yours!
I married an LA girl and have done the Dallas - LA - Dallas run a couple of times. The last was in the X5, and youre right that many hours in a car/SAV will really strenghten the bond with your car/SAV. I envy you in the E39, with the kids I have yet to take the M5 - but really am hesitant at putting that many miles on her. Anyway, enjoy the trip - and let her rip in far west Texas :)

By the way, have an 04 E55 - Brilliant Silver/Charcoal, comfort package, lighting package, NAV, CD, Parktronic, Rear shade, chrome headlamp rings on the water. Arrival should be in three weeks!

Hope to see you around DFW....

Sounds incredible. My car's details are below in the signature to identify it around Dallas, and I spend 90% of my time in the In-Town & Park Cities (I'm in real estate). I'll keep an eye out for you then chase you down to get a closer look at your car!

I feel exactly the same way.

For what it is worth, I got my E55 eight months ago and have yet to stop grinning!
