There are no pics, all are dead.
If youre just using it cross-country, rust isnt really an issue, so long as you stay dry.

So long as it will start up after sitting overnight, just from the glow plugs, thats a good sign of a strong engine (148k is barely broken in for these so I dont see why not).

The trans will probably be the weakest part. A lot of these start to really go around 150k, but so long as it shifts into all 4 gears, its fine. If it shifts harsh or anything, I wouldnt worry, most of the issues on these cars are resolved by checking trhe vacuum system and doing a valve adjustment. Seriously, probably over 50% of the 'problems' that cause unknowledgable people to sell these cars early and cheap are due to those two things.
