Why would someone spend so much on an Escallade when you could buy a Yukon Denali for $7K to $8k less. Basically the same Truck. A few minor extras on the Escallade than the Denali, but is it worth 7 to 8K more?

They are very similar. The body on the Denali is more curved and rounded where as the Escallade is has sharper edges. Basically they are both upgraded Tahoes with a lot of upgrades.

I wanted a Denali, mostly because I like the GMC badge more than the Cadillac badge, and I didn't want everyone to think I was a pro athlete or a rap singer.

But, I drove them both, then priced a top-of-the-line Denali, optioned close to the Escalade. The difference was more like $2k, and the Escalade had options in it that weren't available in the Denali. Given all of that, plus the fact that it drove better, caused me to give in and get the Escalade.

To begin with the Escallade is much more than the fully loaded Denali. The main difference is the Escallade has a quieter exhaust, 20 more HP out of the same engine Park Distance control and different colored fake wood. Is all of that worth 7 to 8k more.

If you have a GM card you get $2500 off the Denali and only $1500 off of the Escallade. The Denali has a $3500 rebate plus a $500 gift card to Lowes if your using it for work. These discount alone come to $5000.

Also the Denali and Escallade drive the same. They are basically the same truck. Also the Denali has two toned Leather seats that look better than the Escallades. All I'm saying is that looking at the discounts and what the dealers are willing to deal the Denali was much cheaper for basically the same vehicle. And I am comparing 2004 Denali's to 2004 Escallades.

With the money I saved on my Denali I was able to upgrade my wheels, tires, brakes and DVD player for less than the Escallade.

For one thing, the Escalade looks better.

When I bought my Escalade, I got it for $1500 under invoice. I couldn't get nearly the same deal on a Denali, so the price was about the same for me.

I thought I liked the Escallade better in the beginning, but after looking at them closer I didn't like the boxy look of the Escallade. To each his own. As long as you like what your getting.

I liked the Denalis, but was swayed into the Escalades after a test drive.

1. DVD navigation, On-Star works just as well
2. DVD rear-entertainment, planning on after-market 16:9 screen
3. Chrome rims, planning on 20x9 or 20x9.5 rims.

with the sunroof. Also PDC install is very inexpensive. Less than $300.00 installed.

Planning on installing an after-market 10-15" flip down monitor for the middle row. I've found a few places online with decent prices. It's just finding a quality installer. I'm worried about the sunroof interfering with the monitor. Any thoughts on this?

I know from 2004 you can get both the DVD player and sunroof. They suppossedly changed the sunroof wiring so the DVD player fits with no problem.

I had the dealership put in a 10" audiovox DVD player. The 15" screen was too big for people sitting in the 2nd row. The 10" works great. The factory DVD player has a 6 3/4" screen. I know I could have gotten the DVD player installed a little cheaper somewhere else, but the dealer warranties the DVD under the car warranty so its 4 or 5 years rather than just one year warranty and they gave it to me at cost. The player also looks stock and clean. The audiovox also comes with 2 remotes and 4 wireless headphones instead of just 2.

Here is a tip. Have them wire the player under the middle seat rather than the one behind the driver. If you have small kids the front paseenger can access the DVD player when its under the middle seat and not behind the drivers seat. I figured this out after they installed mine. Good Luck.

Great tip about the DVD player placement. Initially, I was leaning with the 15" screen, but as you had mentioned it's too big for the passengers, a 10" seems more fitting.

I'm guessing you had to purchase the screen aftermarket, and the DVD player from the dealer, or were you able to purchase it all from the dealership? If you don't mind me asking, how much did the whole setup cost? And, how much was the dealer cost for installation?

Got the DVD player and screen from the dealer. List price was $2999. Got it for $1999 installed. Also GMC factory warranty. Make sure they put a switch in so you can play the radio, cds or tapes in the front while the movie plays over the headphones in the back. I know some systems don't allow you to play music through the speakers while the DVD player is playing. Good Luck

The Escalade gets the highest output engine (the 345 horsepower 6.0 V8), and it's not available in the Denali. The GMC only gets a 325 horsepower version of the 6.0 V8. If you want the most, you buy the Cadillac.

Escalade also has more visual differentiation inside and out from the basic $30,000 Tahoe LS.

I agree with "more power"!!! Plus better lighting.

Yeah, but you still have a Denali, while I have an Escalade. 'Nuff said.

People like you are the very reason that I shy away from the Cadillac. I hope you and your attitude have fun together.

Oh boy don't you know that basically they are both the same truck. They are both basically Chevy Tahoes with extras.
