Teh stock 18" tire combo gives you a tire set up that is less than 2 mil difference in diameter height between front and rear (the back 1.5 mil higher than the front) If you go with 245\40 and 275\35 you'll be looking at a car with the front tires higher than the rear tires(exactly 3.5 mil) That's gotta look stupid. Yeah, I know it will probably reduce understeer, but who cares. What else are you guys going with on stock 18" wheels.

I believe the car is designed to have front and rear rolling radius about equal. Stock is within about 1 mm. The common plus-one setup is within about 3 mm. My slightly-small setup is in the same ballpark. Those are really small amounts. Heck, tread depth on new vs mostly used up tires is bigger than that, as is the exact radius of the tire from one maker to the next.

I don't think the difference in size front/rear in terms of radius is anything you'll be able to notice in handling.

with 255 40 18, second gear was too low for a lot of turns around here, I now use that size on the front. also fills up the wheelwells.
I am not so sure it would work well on stock wheels however.

and cannot see any difference from my stock Conti's. After looking at Tire rack, the revolutions per mile varies quite a bit from manufacturer to manufacturer. I think that the differiences between manufacturers would allow for you calculations. Remember if you spend too much time looking at the small stuff you miss the whole picture. I know because I look as ALL the small stuff and it can drive you CRAZEY.Mark
