I am trying to determine if my 190e (2.6) with automatic trans is switching to 4th gear. I can feel the change from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. However, I can't determine if it's getting to 4th gear. I was hoping some one could look at the following data and let me know: On flat road, with no head or tail wind to drive 60 mph, the engine is turning 3000 rpm. Is this correct?

The 190E automatic transmission starts in 2nd gear to save gas unless you kickdown or use the shifter to force it into 1st.

I just recently purchased a 190 2.6 1991 and I think I have the same problem, just my speedometer is shoving also that I am doing for example 120 km/h but in fact I am going only 95-100 km/h.
the rpm's are also on 3000 by that speed, and the the distance I usualy travel is 32 km to work and now Iit show's me 41km,so I dont know is this connected an how to fix it.
if somebody know the answer please let me know.
