Ive been looking at getting a c class 1995-2000 model . I don't know much about these cars. will these cars last as long as a BMW ? I know doing regular maintenance to a car will make it last along time . I guess I was wondering what kind of problems should I expect from a c class . are there any problem models to avoid?. Ive always changed my oil every 3000/or three months . coolant flushed every 30,000 trans fluid changes at 30,000 too. How are these cars to insure like a BMW? I have an older 3 series bmw that i do most of the repairs too, so if its anything like a bmw I should be able to fix things.

I live over an hour from the nearest MB dealer, and I drive a '95 C280. The 'Check Engine Light' came on a few days ago, and after checking all items that should or could be the cause, I'm of the notion that it must have been electronically triggered by the fact that the car just rolled over 101,000 miles. Can anybody give me list of those items that will trigger it, and once all items are checked and/or corrected, can you tell me where the 'reset' button is (or whatever other method may be used to reset it)?

I'm in the same place you are. I had a '88 BMW 325ic, now a '90 Porsche 911 C2, but I need a road/highway car. I'm told Mercedes are good for high mileage driving, but I may get a BMW because I know them ...worked on them E30 and E36 models. Have you ever looked under the hood of a Mercedes? Under it? Everything is covered up and seemingly unfriendly to get to. Also, even through the engines may last, the auto trans come can start failing after 125K ... that's what I've heard. Good luck in your search. I may end up with a 5-Series or a gas-n-go Acura.
