My Air Flow meter had been taken apart, and noticeably glued back together. Since I was having acceleration problems, my mechanic took it off and put on another used one from a 535i. He charged me $130. Does this sound about right? The AFM he took off was from an 86 735i euro. It appeared to be larger than the one he took off.

Unfortuanatley, this did not seem to cure the problem...

Let me know...

The price wasn't bad, new is about $300ish or so, and other than the 735i being euro, normally the 735 and 535 have the same AFM (part #0 280 203 027). I do believe however that the euro versions might have a different AFM than the US spec ones (anybody else able to confirm this?) and thus might be a different part number, size, etc..

So, unless the auro version is a different AFM, should have corrected the problem if it was the AFM causing it.
