troubles, and what is the trouble with these engines?

All 01, 02, and 03 model M3's now have a 100k mile 6 year warranty on the motor internals to catch any of the rare fails outside the main group which have already received a service action to correct contaminated oil pumps and wrong-tolerance bearing shells which appear to have led to the spun-rod-bearing troubles.

Tons of more data here if you want it... Issue is mostly done with - fails are now very rare, and the warranty covers them.
