If he is looking for the street, don't bother with the M3 LWT - you will end up paying a lot more money for less car. Get a regular E36M3 and spend the extra money on a suspension (Eibach Pro-Kit springs/Koni shocks) and either the Eurosport Cam Kit or one of the new soon-to-be-released twin-screw superchargers. M3 LTW's don't have A/C and if your brother also lives in FL, he will not be happy.

-Wayne

P.S. I loved my E36M3.

at Sebring last Sunday, a realization struck me: Why do we waste our time with these fancy German cars when the domestic guys get MASSIVE horsepower, great grip, handling, and braking for relatively peanuts? The Vettes and Vipers on slicks were toasting me in the straights and, sometimes, the corners too.

Maybe I need to live with an American sports car for an extended amount of time and then realize their supposedly terrible build quality and rattles, but boy do I love those American trucks!

dan is threatening to show up in miami this weekend - bringing scales. i plan to install the pedal and if dan shows do an alignment and alance. either at the house or at the tamiami warehouse if carlos allows it.

the paint/body guy next to carlos (costas) has a home made smart string set up - quire easy to do actually. me, i liked todds cbs blocks and predrilled aluminum bar with fishing line

The way the tranny moved with the engine torque made it very easy to miss 4th and go to 2nd or miss 3rd and go to 1st. I've see 3 Lightweights blow their engines on a "money shift" at PIR over the years.

Have your bro be very careful with fast downshifts under power.

I could never get a good quarter mile run with my 97 M3 since I was always hitting 5th with the 2nd to 3rd shift. The mounts are just too soft.

on a course that requires balance and finesse like VIR and the playing field starts to even out. Incidentally '04 Vettes are $50k. Vipers $65k, While '04 Cobra Mustangs are 390hp for $35k, they are relatively heavy and unsophisticated.

a friend is parting out w/'99 estoril M coupe(hint...cheap). schnitzer set up, dinan software, intake, strut bar, bbs rc 8.5, 10 on S03's. car is in the city (SF)
he's getting rid of some dinan wheels w/200 miles & pilot sports in favor of an upgrade to BBS.

but it caused lotsa noise & vibration.

The cheaper solution was using 320i tranny mounts. Several vendors now sell aluminum cups to hold the harder 320i tranny mounts.

I had the JT tranny brace in my car until I put the 6-speed in (the brace doesn't fit with the 6-speed) and that brace was so solid that the whole car shook. It really made it feel like a race car - a little too much for a street car.
