You can save money by not using the middle muffler, also known as the resonator. But it is the rear muffler that usually goes first, so it might not matter. The cheapest exhaust system is to go to a local muffler shop and have them weld something up. For the muffler, use something standard (that will fit) or if you want some noise, get something like a Flowmaster. The stock MB exhaust system is expensive and a lot of the aftermarket systems are not cheap. TimeValve makes a great stainless steel system but for the 2.6L 190 E it might run $800 without installation.

I concur with Trex. Had leaky exhaust system. Priced muffler/pipe combo to be about 145 and more with shipping. Went to local muffler shop and put it on the lift. Inspection revieled rotten pipe section at rear axle. Cost me 30 bucks for them to bend and install. This is near Houston.

I've heard good things about Timevalve's products for years. I was VERY happy to see that the manufacture systems for EURO Benz models as well.

Cheers,
Tim
