I have been a BMW owner for many years but am looking at purchasing a previously owned 430 CLK. Could some one give me some general tips on maybe a certain year better than others, common problems, things to look for, and any other helpful insight would be greatly appreciated.
I am particularly interested in knowing if there was a great deal of difference between the 1999 and 2000 models. Thank You.

I can tell you one thing, make sure you have or get an extended warrentee, preferably one that covers emmission devices also. My 99 CLK check engine light came on, code po 170. M-B dealer replaced mass air flow sensor, did a few other checks, bill came to $646.70 before tax! Warrentee company balked at that price and my $100 deductible cost went to $211.50 for this job. I thought what the heck, at least problem solved, but two days later check engine light came on again. Car is in shop right now as I'm posting this. M-Bs like BMWs have their little quirks that can add up to big bucks in no time.
