In a conference call today w/ financial analysts Jaguar announced that as cost cutting/control measures it would in the next 6 months close the Brown's Lane production facility and exit Formula 1 racing at the end of this season. Its Formula 1 Racing Team is for sale. The moves were prompted by Jaguar's failure to meet its business targets, and the realization that the factors preventing meeting those targets are not readily changeable. Jaguar also announced the cutting of 750-1000 jobs.
The full transcript of the conference call is in today's online Wass Street Journal.

That leaves Jaguar to the Trans-Am series in which they won the manufacturer's championship.

Here is a 650 hp Jaguar AJ-V8.

Another one of Jac Nasser's glorious adventures up in smoke. Too much hype, not enough substance in an engineering environment like F-1.

As if F1 isn't hyped up these days?

It is becoming more of a motorsoap than a real motorsport.

Yeah, F-1 is a real mess these days, likely to drive a lot of fans away.
I was referring to the engineering that went into the cars, BMW with much greater capability - the first to pass 19,000 rpm, etc...
