Hello,

I'm getting my sl500 next year, March, production starts Jan. 2005, i was wondering if there are gonna be any 'facelifts' as my dealer mentioned something about NAV system being redesigned but was not 100 % sure.

What about back lights, any changes expected ??

As i still have time to add/modify optional equipment, i am considering 'individual' seats/leather, could someone post a pic of what non standard leather/seats look like ?

Thanks !

Instead of CD nav in MY 2003 and 2004. The model year changed in July, so if you go to the Merc web site, you can see what your 1/2005 build car will look like.

It is possible to retrofit the new DVD COMAND to existing SLs.

The cost of the parts in Germany is:

- MB COMAND with DVD Navigation EUR 5.500,00
incl. all computer units and wires.

- add. charge for installation of TV Tuner EUR 1.800,00

- CD changer EUR 980,00

- MB mobile EUR 1.850,00

The reason you need a new CD changer is that the new system uses a fibre-optics rather than electrical link, so you will end up with a spare CD changer you can fit to an older Merc.

A specialist like Brabus can do the fitting. The work would take about three days and may cost as much as 2,000 EUR. All prices are before VAT.

So if I could find someone to do the work in The Colonies, leaving out the TV tuner, I'd be looking at thirteen thousand bucks!

I think I'll pass...
