...Well if you are happy with them then that is great. You have paid your hard earned cash for them and should enjoy them.

However, if you're asking for opinions then I would have to go against the gushing praise that others have given. Maybe it is the pictures but they just don't look very good. They look like a generic wheel from a mid-90s rice rocket an do not suit the M3 whatsoever.

Just my humble opinion. As long as you are happy, that's all that counts...

these are the real deal in performance rims.. amongst the best in the world for track/race performance.

looks is always subjective with people looking to individualize thier cars to set them apart from the rest and these are definitely rare.. so far less then 25 sets available in the world???

18s in general can sometimes look anemic in pictures...

but whenever I see M3s with big rubber (>265) at the track on 18s... they don't look puny at all... nice and fat... proportional... It's often hard to judge by pictures, I say.

In my mind, I'm trying to combine the up-close photos posted yesterday of the wheels by themselves, which show all the design details, with the overall (but more flattened) pictures of them on the car... I can't wait to get my own set and put them on!

I'm certain in person the wheels look more 3-dimensional, and the deep center, spoke clearance/dimensions, etc are more striking.

Shep will get some pictures in better light and on his pimp-mobile tommorow. By next week I bet we will have an entire Medina photo shoot (it's been awhile). Certainly will make everything more aestheticly pleasing. It is amazing what ride height can do for the entire car.

Thanks to Andres tho for getting these pics right out though.. there were quite a few waiting to see them.

sometimes I am not too clear.. it was late.

Obviously you were pressed for time with the sun setting and Dad bringing the car back late. Better light is all that was needed.

Plus we need to start an AEsco48 coilover fund... I can start by offering up two rear S/A konis and some springs. ;D

ChuckD
10-02-2004, 02:24 PM
Amazing how a good drop alters the attitude of the car. Then too, for some of us I think our eye gets trained to prefer the aggresive stance. Surly there are some that prefer stock height.

In a nutshell how did you do than Dan while preservingthe background? I am guessing you extracted everything (ground included) below the wheel wheels and shifted it up. If so.. how did you shift the angle of it? Custom anglular crop?

Corvette77
10-02-2004, 04:03 PM
i dont like those wheels on the m3. They look like they are made for an evo. Is there some kind of special function those wheel serve (i.e let more air for brake cooling?)

biodan
10-02-2004, 04:13 PM
included the bricks below the tire. Then shifted the whole thing upwards towards the top of the fender. Afterwards, i had to blend the bricks. If you zoom into it you'll see clear evidence of P'shoping since it was a quickie.

Alameda Mountie
10-02-2004, 04:46 PM
I think they're pretty plain looking myself (I'll stop short of calling them ugly), but they're designed to be very light and strong from what I understand. They're based on an existing Champion design though, so someone in the M3 community must have thought they were attractive, unless there's something special in the geometry of the wheel and the shape of the spokes that makes it stronger/lighter than other wheels?

No flames please, to each his own when it comes to the visuals of wheels and everything else.

StoneWalk
10-02-2004, 04:52 PM
Um, the wheel is specially designed for the M3 and allows use of wider tires with no spacers needed compared to many of the usual alternatives, the wheel is both very strong, and also very light which lends greater performance.

Go ahead and get some nice 40 pound three piece cast bits of axle jewelry and feel free to have fun with them. We'll be over here trying to actually improve the performance (and efficiency) of our cars.
