As the title says, I'm looking for one of these...

My grandparents say I can get a car for Graduation... I've kicked a few ideas around in my head, and I am quite content with the thought of owning a Lotus, but I don't have $100,000 to spend here... I'm looking for a cheapy older one... 1991-1994 Esprits run approx. $18,000-$21,000 on Autotrader, and I know that Autotrader overprices their cars a bit.

I'm an Isuzu nut, so I am thinking either an Elan M100 (Isuzu 1.6l DOHC Turbo as in the Isuzu Impulse), or the Esprit (Esprits are sexier). So, if anyone has an Esprit/Elan M100, tell me what you think your car would be sold for. I'm not looking to buy just yet, and insurance is going to rape me in the butt, so I am not too sure that I am going to register/insure it right away.

So, 1991-1994 Elan M100's or Esprits for sale, shoot me a price. I wanna see if it's on the price list... My grandparents told me to keep it under $20,000.00, so if it's past that, I'll just simply go with my other plan for a cheap car.

Thanks

Let me correct myself...

1990-1994 sell for anywhere from $19,900-$25,000.

Sorry.

I could be mistaken but Autotrader doesn't own the cars that are listed for sale. Autotrader (unless I'm mistaken) is just a company that provides a forum for sellers and buyer to list their own vehicles (both private buyer and private sellers as well as both professional car buyers and car dealers).

I found my Esprit on Cars.com from a dealer because I was under the assumption one couldn't find exotics on Autotrader.com

Additionally, where on Autotrader.com can one see cars that aren't on the standard scroll down selector?

20k will easily get you a low mileage M100 Elan in immaculate condition. They are currently going around 12k to ~16k for an above average condition model.

If you are about to graduate from anything and your grandparents are buying a car for you, you are not ready to own and take care of a Lotus.
