I took my car into the stealership yesterday so they can perform the Service Action on my 2001 M3. I had heard that BMWNA was paying for car rentals while the SA is being performed and when I asked my service advisor for a rental he asked if I had purchased the car there. When I said no he stated that bmw na wasnt authorizing a rental and that this stealership's policy was not to offer any rentals or loaners to anyone that hadnt purchased a car there. My question is, Is BMWNA in fact, authorizing a rental for this service action or am I wrong for demanding one?

not paying for a loaner.. A loaner is just a perk, nothing more. Most dealers do not give loaners if you did not purchase the car from them. Since the car is likely going to only be a day or 2, you can get a car from enterprise for like 20 bux a day.<hr>

"To minimize the customer inconvenience caused by this Service Action, you MAY (<I>my emphasis</I>) pick up (and deliver after repair) the affected vehicle from the customer's home and provide appropriate alternative transportation."

It goes on to say,

"RENTAL VEHICLES
Please note that the Warranty Policy and Procedure Manual in Section 9 on page 8 spells out for those participating BMW centers the opportunity to self-autorize a rental vehicle if needed by your customer for this type of repair"

The latter would seem to indicate some kind of reimbursement to the dealer from BMW?

The gentlemen informed me that BMW NA is paying for the rental and that he was going to contact the service manager for me. I then called my dealership with this info. and they still claim that BMW is not allowing them to bill for this so they can't give me a rental. I'm hearing two conflicting things here, and this particular dealership is losing my business when I get my car back.

I don't get the loaner since I didn;t buy a car there, but I do get enterprise car for a day, covered up to $30 as long as I they have at least one billable hour, regardless of what they are doing. They always have Entrprise reps and cars on site. When my steering column went bad, and they had to keep the car overnight to get the part in, they covered two days of car rental. Last visit I got an FX35 for $7/day extra.<a href = "http://www.team-bar.com">http://members.roadfly.org/jkuper/teamBAR_Sig2.JPG</a>

Installer found one of the struts binding up when loaded (turning wheel). Jay says some of the factory bearings used in the strut assembly allow sideways movement which then causes binding with the camber plate. Jay is overnighting a couple shims they've come up with to solve the problem in later production. I just hope I get it back tomorrow.

I saw it lowered though--makes all the difference with those RG4s.
I'll post pics tomorrow, hopefully.

Bearing service is completed.******>
