motor oil has entered the vacuum system from a leaking vacuum pump diaphram at the front of the motor - causing oil to swell all the rubber vacuum hoses and damaging the shut-off switch located at the ignition switch/steering lock .

This is common . Replace the diaphram and all the rubber hoses that have swollen, replace the ignition vac. switch , clean out all the hard plastic vacuum lines of all oil using carb spray cleaner and compressed air. And install a inline gas filter per tne Mercedes-Benz bulletin - in the hose "T" fitting on the brake booster vac hose. This will show you in the future if oil has entered the system and the filter protects the injection shut-off switch at the key switch.

Another cause is also a bad injection pump shut off vacuum valve.
You test it by appling vacuum with a test vac hand pump.
