I purchased a cylinder head. How can i tell if it is from S or just cooper. It is complete. Is there paint numbers or something else that would give the clue?

Both heads are the same.

This article:

discusses differences between the Cooper and S engine. The head is said to be different, including:

improved gas flow
smaller diameter valve stem
inconel valve material
different exhaust valve rockers that are stronger and have tighter tolerances

so I don't think the heads are the same. the rocker p.n. must be different, as well as valves. Not sure about head porting though.
Please check again.

Thank you. So the head casting is the same. I bought the head complete, so I guess it is possible, per the article, that there may be differences in valves and rocker arms.

Are exhaust rocker arms the same P.N.? If not, how can you distinguish one from the other?

Do the inconel exhaust S valves look different from the Cooper valves? I guess I could try to take a valve out and see if it necks down. Without doing that, is it possible to tell?

Is there a way to distinguish the JCW head? As an "honesty audit" for those of us getting the JCW kit installed?

The P/N's are different for the exhaust valves (S/non-S)but the dimensions are the same. Do you have a fax number I can fax the drawings from ETK for you? Thanks.

Thank you for your assistance. My Fax is 714-558-7547. I take it then that the rocker arms are the same?

Hmmmmm...let me ask our techs.

They don't remember seeing any distinguishing marks. We have a a JCW cylinder head in our offsite storage I'll go over and check it out for you.
