I think I am having electrical issues due to something with the fuses or fuse box. I found that the fr, pass and rear driver windows were not working because of a fuse burnout. now the suroof won't operate, but when I jiggle the fuse for it , it does move slowly but intermitantly. Any experience with this anyone? Oh this is an 85 300D-T I bought a few months ago with 282,000 miles on it.

first off, remove the NEG. BATT cable from the batt to prevent (!)

remove all the fuses, and wire brush or brass-wool all the metal fingers that grip the fuses, install all new fuses in the correct AMP rating, pre-bend the fingers and rotate the new fuses till your sure of good tight fit.

re-install the NEG BATT cable to the battery.
it's quite common with this style of fuse to
clean the oxidation routinely. If you spray the fuse contact points with a product like WURTH Contact Oil - that will prevent oxidation

here are two links to WURTH products:

use this WURTH Contact Oil on all the connections in the car - lift up your window switches and after spraying the pins and plug female connectors, plug & unplug many times till you have a clean contact of all the pins . this goes for all electrical components in your vintage TD - great car - preserve it well.

simply 'pick' either end of the switch carefully up using a tiny 'glasses repair' type screwdriver or , wiggle each end up a little at a time and simply lift up and out.

Hey CD; thanks, I got some electronics cleaner and battery terminal anti corrosive spray at advance auto shoppe ; used a wire brush and some new fuses.....that stuff was filthy...and my sunroof works again!!!!What a pain in the butt it is changing those fuses. My fingers are still raw. What about a good link for CD repair manuals?
