Thank you sooo much for the helpful information about the ZF 4HP-22 :-)
Post such questions on the forum, so that everybody can read and reply. Also check the trans fluid, if it looks dark and not reddish and smells burnt, it could be a defective clutch pack, read here Transmission Fundamentals http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/BMW_docs/transfund1.pdf http://www.europeantransmissions.com...BMWtechlib.htm ZF transmission service guide http://www.transdetail.ru/assets/sit...ch%20Guide.pdf This booklet contains information that has not normally been available in most OEM repair manuals and can be used by the technician to diagnose electrical concerns, identify the location and direction of the valves, springs, retainers and bore plugs in the valve body. This information has been prepared from actual valve bodies and in some cases may vary from one model to another, but is invalueable when the need arises to diagnose and repair electrical and valve body
Hi Shogun, You seem to have a lot of great insights. I would greatly appreciate your advice, please. I have a BMW 735i, 1992, E32, automatic (the ZF 4HP-22) and it's no longer shifting into top gear, and when it's warm, it won't move the car when the lever is in reverse. When I rev it in reverse the TRANS PROGRAM light comes on in the instrument panel. I'm very curious as to what causes this, please ... Thank you in advance. Regards, ~Tanya
