    According to the german sales brochures..

    both 320d and 325i(the euro 2,5l version)weight 1490kg,the 330i is 1525kg.
    the 120d is 1415 kg,a 125i should then have 1415kg to,the coming 130i should be at around 1430kg.
    Thats euro measurement incl 90% tank filling 68kg driver and 10kg lugage.
    IN US curb weight the 130i should have around 3100ibs.

    1-series was actually designed to accept six cylin

    Just take a look under the hood,6 cylinder motor fits! It has been designed so from the start.
    Hopefully the "six" will have better weight distribution than the diesels,which are actually both nose-heavy at 52/48..
    Maybe the all new mag motor allows it to get close to the 116i's perfect 50/50 ratio?

    Perhaps E90 beats Einser coz it has wider tyres on

    Important note: 3er has a balanced 50:50 weight distrib while einser (at least diesel models) is actually nose heavy at 52:48,despite the "midship" motor and battery under trunk floor!
    This means less traction,and the lack of LSD makes things even worse..

    330i v 530i...

    0 - 100km/h 6.3sec v 6.5sec, top speed is an identical limited 250km/h.

    Likewise 325i (2.5 litre Euro spec) v 525i. 7.0sec v 7.5sec, top speed is the same at 245km/h.

    At least the 120d has a taller final drive ratio than the 320d.According to the sales brochures 80-120km/h in gear acceleration times in 4th and 5th gear are actually 0.3 sec better on the 320d as a result.And thats definitly some sort of "downgrading" for my taste.Still in gear numbers are on level of the 330i so its not much of an issue.But I think nothing will smoke a 3er series,at least not a less profitable,less expensive BMW product.

    There is NO 125i...

    It hasn't even been announced yet, let alone introduced. Furthermore, apart from factory claims there is no performance data on the 130i. BMW claims 6.2sec. for 0-100km/h and a limited top speed of 250km/h. The claims for the 330i are 6.3sec and the same 250km/h.

    The same comparison for 120i/320i is 8.7sec and 9.0sec, 217km/h and 220km/h. Likewise 120d and 320d; 7.9sec and 8.3sec, 220km/h and 225km/h.

    Acceleration is largely a function of power to weight. Top speed, however, is much more a result of power to aerodynamic drag. Because the 1-Series has a rather cut off tail and the 3-Series has a boot (trunk) we might draw the conclusion that the 3-Series is slightly more aerodynamically efficient than the 1-Series.

    No need for far fetched conspiracy theories.

    The E90 Bmw 330i is half a sec quicker to 60 than the lighter 130i, 320i is just faster than the smaller 120i, 325i is a significant 7 mphs faster than a 125i and even the new 320d manages to trash the 120d,not only in acceleration but also in top end!
    Why the abt 130 lb heavier e90 can so consistently out-sprint the 1er?
    My fav conspiracy theory: they put the more powerful motors to 3er and the rest to einsers.
    Reason:the big sister must be faster than the little sister..
