I respect your opinion and decision not to buy Michelin, but think of a few years ago: Firestone tires went through a heck of a time with poor tire design with Ford Explorers. Never did I hear of that starting in the ranks of racing and I didn't hear of any race teams having issues with their tires before or after the problems were brought to the public's attention.

True, but it was reversed last year Michelin had a resurgence this year, perhaps at the expense of structural integrity needed to run on the banking.

Uh Mr. Logical...their advertising points to all their trickle down tech to road cars. But this was a manufacturing & engineering downfall. & Like any other pr fiasco, it affects the public's confidence. Hey, you know what?? You keep buying their tires. If it doesn't fail good for you. I just don't have your luck I guess. But then I don't depend on luck either.

kind of like a few years ago... ...at the lemans 24 hour race when a couple of mercedes-benz clk's started taking off and flying off the racetrack. a newspaper the next day said that people driving mercedes road cars were in the same danger. of course this was rubbish, and so is the claim that michelin can't manufacture a safe road car tire. but i too don't buy michelin tires. not for performance reasons, but because they're overpriced.

Wait, what? Bridgestone is the one that's been having all of the problems this year keeping up with Michelin (until the USGP), no?

true, but you can vote for your feet Michelin can still design tires for street and for motorsports. However, one has to wonder what was going through their minds when they came up with the tire package for Indy. Turn #13 has been there for the last 5 F1 races, and Bridgestone managed to supply a tire that worked on the track. It sounds like Michelin has had to really push the envelope of tire design to compete with Bridgestone this year, and their design lacked structural strength to cope with the g-load at Indy. The track resurfacing may have added a variable, but Michelin should have supplied a heavier compound tire to the teams as an alternate, just like they normally supply soft and hard compounds. This was a travesty. Ian
true, but you can vote for your feet
Umm, poindexter....do you drive an F1 car everyday Sure Michelin fell on their backside at Indy. Sure I am angry that the whole thing transpired as it did. We the fans deserve better. But cone on, lets not let our anger lead our logic. To imply that because michelin had a problem manufacturing a high end tire for an extreme condition that they can't manufacture passenger car tires either is a bit skewed. Have you ever been late to a meeting, does that mean you are late to all functions??? Mark M - Disappointed F1 fan.

I was there for this fiasco. Michelin's not gettin any more of my cash. If they can't supply safe workable tires to multimillion Dollars paying customer of the caliber of F1 teams, what make me think they can make safe tires for me...??!!
I was there for this fiasco. Michelin's not gettin
FIASCO I don't know who to blame.... Michelin knows the speeds at Indy......or the FIA not allowing the new tires flown in to be used. Either way the Fans got the big disappointment
FIASCO
