Re: check brake light circuit
Take care of this as soon as possible... as your brake lights may not be working all the time... I had the same issue and thought my brake lights were fine too... Turns out, after seeing my car's reflection in windows at shopping center, that the brake lights were not working about 25% of the time, or coming on late... Don't want to get rear ended and the fix is pretty easy DIY...

you need the four prong switch not the two prong
I paid $8 for mine and I think if you take it to the stealership, it's a recall item they'll do for free....investigate!

AND there are 2 diff ones... have VIN ready
ps: switch is about $30
"brake light switch" needs to be changed... john, had this problem several months ago. go to your local BMW dealership and buy the brake light switch for your car (a small black rectangular piece of plastic). the brake switch is located under the driver's panel almost directly over the brake pedal. easy do it yourself job. there are links to R/R'ing the brake switch off the pelican website and elsewhere. good luck! jason

check brake light circuit hi, all: I have a 97 m3 4 door w/ 5 speed. The car runs great. It just has a small annoyance. Everytime after I drive it for a while, the check control light will come on and the on board computer will see "Check Brake Light Circuit". My brake lights work fine. Recently, I just replaced rotors and pads. So, I don't have any problems related to braking. If I turn off the car and turn it back on, the warning goes away, then after I drive for a while, it will be back on again. Thanks John Wang.
