SOMA used to be the ghetto under the freeway

Now its the new yuppy hotspot. Good for property value... bad for average IQs.

I found this out early on

No problem doing burnouts, even at a few hundred miles on the car. Just stomp on it. My times right now are still 4.7 or so per my gtech. Still more to learn per the new C&D - 4.2 is my goal. Maybe once I hit the first service it will open up the final mode and I will get there.

Count? You're damn straight it does

The SOMA area has come a long way over the last few years. Always good to live in a city.

Al's much more entertaining than a dude from S.F.

Have you recreated any scenes from Bullitt yet? Oh sorry....guessing you must live in the east bay. Oakland or Haywood?

Just stomp the pedal fast....car will do a .......

clutch drop at 3500+ depending how fast you stomp the pedal. Of course with 500 hp, the tires will fry.

just as well as far as i'm concerned

this car isn't about drag racing :)

there might be a trackday or two in the next few weeks at PR, weather permitting. that'll do for a test because i have some baseline laptimes there. scary track though and the tires WILL be toast. alternatively TH. you mentioned 2:25 or so for the m5 there? i ran a 2:24 with the mini on street tires, surely the monster ought to do better! time will tell.

    What a disappointment!!

Man, I was looking forward to launching the car at 5K rpm or so.

Wonder if there is a way to get the rpm up? Reflash?

Same as the M3....no mention of LC but we have ...

a watered down version that revs to 1600 (M5) 1800 (M3) but unfortunately just does a clutch drop with way too much wheel spin. It's much easier to just take your foot completely off the gas and then stomp the pedal....the car will rev to about 3500 rpm and do a clutch drop. As soon as the clutch drops, back off on the gas to about 1/2 to 3/4 until the car hooks up and then foot to the floor. This method gives the best launch but it does take practice.

Of course it is hard on the clutch and drivetrain.

Even the Ferrari F430 in the US comes with no LC. I guess they just don't trust Americans...he he.

    Only on non-US versions.

US launch control is limited to 1600 rpm. I've tried it, along with a number of other US owners. The cruise control adjustment doesn't work.

Positive you bought an M5? Just a bad manual?

Good Lord........all that money down the drain. ;)

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily Flounder.

interestingly, the manual makes no mention of LC

at least not that i could find. the weather has been too crappy around here to try it out (not much point on soaked pavement). anyone play with it yet?
