    Well, it's pretty easy. Join the Navy and have them send you to Italy. Here, pretty much every 320is you see has the s14b20 engine in it. Go to the junk yards and they always seem to have one laying about.

    How did you come by that engine? That's pretty fricken neat!

    Any way, the S14 is pretty robust. Just make sure it has an oil pan baffle, guard against intake leaks, and do the usual care and feeding. It's just that they are damn expensive when they do go.

    I don't think there are many worries...

    The only things I can think of are: intake manifold gasket leaks (simple gasket replacement) are fairly common, and the recommendation to upgrade the tensioner to either the one from the US S50 or Euro S52 engines. I assume you have the oil pan baffle (probably installed on every S14 by now...)

    Are there any special concerns with the S14b20

    I new to this engine, and I'm putting it and the transmission in a '73 2002tii. I'm wondering if there are any issues with this particular engine. I have read about some of the potential intake problems with S14's in general but, is there anything else?
    Just for the info, the engine and transmission are out of a 1990 320is "Italian M3".
