Once upon a time there was a young, happy man

who decided to have a turbo 635CSi built. It didn't happen, but not for lack of trying, wanting, hoping, and mental anguish.

Poor Kai.

He then decided it would be easier to organize a gathering of E24 owners and fans annually.

Mortgage rates headed down - time to refi?

Anyone else thinking of re-financing the mortgage at the new low rates this morning? I'm seeing some 5.30 APRs for 30yr fixed w/ 0 points.

How bad was it?

Freakin design flaw - what a pain in the A$$

When the coolant hose blew - Coolant leaked into the tranny and I think it blew the front O-ring = tranny fluid all over the place - car is in peices - geting ready to drop the tranny and rebuild it ........ what a Bitc#............I love my sixer!!!!!

I owned an Audi once.Never again(sorry).Timing belt did go on the 5 cyl,but fortunatly it was a non-interference motor.Everything about the car was great.Only when parts were needed is when i tired quickly of ownership.I gave it away.

If you think your six is a money pit just wait.

Audi A4 and A6's are a total PITA to work on. Most simple, routine jobs (ie. waterpump) require you to remove the entire front end of the car. The steering rack is located inside the firewall. The window reulators snap cables like sewing string. You will pay dearly to replace the timing belt, but you had better do it on time. I have seen the belt snap in at least 6 cars in the last year. On one A6 the belt teeth were completely gone but the belt was otherwise intact. 10 to 15 sodium filled valves are not cheap ($70-$90 ea) It is usually cheaper to buy a used motor.

I wanted an A6 really bad until I started working on them. Now, I just watch them drive by.

THE AUDI A6: kicking my A$$ already:

A little tiny 4 inch long 5/8" diameter hose blew a leak .......it's a miracle it did not happen on the highway ...........was at my sister's house in INDY ......took off to go to the Indy Air show and red juice was all over the drive .....thought I blew the tranny .....but turns out to be pink anti-freeze in these AUDI'S .....was a real pain in the A$$ to fix it.
