Re: noise from rear wheels our stealer ONLY charged us $150 for our 1st alignment. Our 2nd was done by NTB for $80, the second seems to have solved the problem!
Re: noise from rear wheels
Re: We replaced tires I just replaced my Pirellis with 45K with the Firestone Destination LE and these tires are great...Very quiet, smooth ride, great handling and not real expensive $110 a tire...Rated very high on tire rack.....
Re: We replaced tires
Re: noise from rear wheels Thank you all for the responses. I will do an alignment which is not covered by warranty and cost 250, and replace the tires. Maybe I should've been litter richer before I bought a BMW:-)
Our X3 w/Sport came with Michelins They have 22k miles on them and show no signs of unusual wear or make any noise. From the looks of them, they have at least another 15k of life left. When we bought our 00 328 new, it had Bridgestone tires on it. We got about 15k miles of use out of them and at the time we replaced them they rode hard and were noisey. I've learned to stay with Michelin over the years. They might cost a few bucks more but if you can afford the car you should be able to afford the tires to with it. -Rick © www.livesafeandhealthy.net www.mothersmakingmoney.com BMWCCA 162285 06 X3 Silver Gray/Black / Sport / Prem / Step 05 Dolphin 5376, (that's 37' of fun)

Re: We replaced tires bridgestone/firestone probably pays BMW to put these &^%* torenza's on the X3 we put Yokohama car tires (after all the X3 is really a car) on and luv them, better performance, less noise and MUCH smoother ride + you probably need a 4 wheel alignment
We replaced tires Had Bridgestone Potenzas from the factory, replaced at 22k miles on '04 X3 3.0. Should have replaced at 15k miles, when the noise started. We put Goodyears on all four corners, but I've talked to other owners who are happy with Michelins. Our noise was an oscillating sound as if the tires were cupped, which is a "traditional" BMW tire wear pattern but not present on our other BMWs these days, and at over 5k miles not present (yet) in the Goodyears. noice from rear wheels There is a roaring noice coming from rear wheels, the BMW guys said it is normal for all BMWs because performance cars are hard on tires, all four tires are starting feathering after 20000 miles, which causes this problem. It is really not convincing to me and the noice is really annoying. Anybody has the same experience? Any solutions?
