Re: Software Upgraded HIGHLY recommended - WOW

Good to hear that the upgrade makes so much difference. I dropped my 06 650i Sport conv off today for its first scheduled service and reported that the iDrive was very slow to start and to respond. I did not report that Sirius reception was poor around/under trees, which is not the case in my 07 Audi with Sirius that gets much better reception, although the sound from Sirius is not especially good on either sound system.
The only disappointment in a year, aside from the slow iDrive, which I have gotten used to, is that their is no iPod interface available at the $100-$200 price that the dealer mentioned a year ago.
Otherwise, the 650i remains a pleasure to drive.

Software Upgraded HIGHLY recommended - WOW

My car just came back from the dealership with a Software Upgrade and what a difference. They upgraded my girl with V25.02. All of the functions are much quicker to my actions. The "Home" page has a different color scheme. Plus, my Treo 680 (AT&T) functions beautifully with the Bluetooth. They sync to each other perfectly and the car has downloaded all 20+ one touch dial entries from the Treo. I even get better receiption from Sirius especially on the country roads with the overhanging trees.

Re: My 06 650i conv will be a yr. old in mid-June and

After getting the new progman v25.x installed in my 2006 BMW 650i Convertible 06/06/06 production date, my Verizon Treo 700p still shows the same symptoms. It does pair and you can make/receive calls. The address book does not download to the car screen and from time to time the cell phone locks up and reboots itself. I'm ready to throw it in the garbage. In the meantime, I took a loaner Verizon Blackberry 7130e from my office, and it pairs fast and it downloads my entire address book with names and phone numbers exactly as they appear on my outlook's address book.

I'm waiting for the release of the Apple IPhone. If the Apple IPhone works as advertised, it will be a nice addition.

So far, I have not had any issues with the new Progman v25.x. I-Drive is fast and responsive. My car now rocks..16,200 miles and going strong... 6er forever

Re: My 06 650i conv will be a yr. old in mid-June and

Protocol does not change, maybe slightly faster pairing. Some reports of previous phones that worked now don't and vice versa. No real hard data only antedotal reports. Sorry not more information. I use some 3 and 5 series boards/forums (especially 5 series since all things electronic and software identical) to gleen more info since there are so many more units/users out there than the 6 series.

Re: My 06 650i conv will be a yr. old in mid-June and

Will this update upgrade the Bluetooth software as well? According to BMW, we all have Bluetooth v1.1 in our cars. Outside of the Motorola Razor, Blackberrys and Treo 650 and lower work off of Bluetooth version 1.1. Any information on an upgrade? Thanks.

I am between runs on the Tail of the Dragon. A little dizzy now so going to lay down (318 curves in 11 miles x 4 runs!!!!)

Re: My 06 650i conv will be a yr. old in mid-June and

My understanding is that the dealer can't just upgrade the software unless you report having an issue with it..... so report an issue and they'll be able to upgrade you.

Re: My 06 650i conv will be a yr. old in mid-June and

Hardware/buss/processor sure capable of speedier responses. MOre like code/timimg developers established. Many speak of improved response. I am scheduled for 24 April update. Hope it lives up to reports.

My 06 650i conv will be a yr. old in mid-June and

now has about 9500 miles. have not had it in for service yet, but would very much enjoy a speedier response to iDrive inputs, if that is something that the software update includes. I though that the system was impeded by the hardware and a very sloooow processor.

You are on Progman 25.xx.xx now. Many have reported results similar to yours. You should find you can now search Nav with names, and a few other niceties. Since you are in UK you were never bothered with our "lawyer" screen so that is not a difference you'll notice.

New software dated 7th April 2007...............

.......... just had the old girl in for a software update to re-instate the MP3 player function they killed at the last service!

Much to their annoyance BMW UK told them they had to code the vehicle from the ground up. It's had the full hit with the CIP dated 7th April 2007 (but not sure what release that means).

My car is 3 1/2 years old now and going as strong as ever at 25,000 miles.

The new software has put MP3 back on (both single slots) and a host of other menu options have appeared.

The car appears to be pairing with other phones for bluetooth as well (even though I have a SIM card insrted in the console for the pro phone set-up)?

The screen looks a lot better in silvers and greys instead of shades of brown (yuk).

Gear changes are very slick. I-Drive menus are really fast. Voice control is quick and very accurate.

    Looks good to me.

    Have fun.
