    Are all new BMWs like that?

    Maybe the "lack of" center armrest is the compromise/shortcoming/design of the smallest and narrowest model... unless all manual shift BMWs are like that -- for elbow movement.

    But seems useless

    Even in your photo, it doesn't seem to come forward enough -- not much further than the sides of the backrest, and certainly not beyond the seatbelt latches.

    You'd have to tuck your elbow *way* back there...

    It's right there...

    The armrest is right there in the pic. I looks to be about 10 inches wide, with an angle to the drivers side.
    You can probably see it a little more clearly in the pic below:

    Are these photos misleading or is there really no between-seat armrest? Nor cupholder?
