Re: If you go aftermarket be sure the battery>> I just replaced the original battery in my 2002 M3 and there was a plug where the vent goes. The battery lasted 8 years.

Funny, I just changed the one in my '02 last weekend. Got my battery from New Century in Alhambra. -10% CCA discount. Bring your old one for the core exchange. The change is very easy. The most difficult part is getting the felt trunk liner on the side of the trunk off the battery cover. Re: M3 Battery in SoCal? I've changed my battery through Pep Boys of all places! They carry the Bosch battery in the exact size needed. And they know how to change it since it's the same location as the 3 series battery - so they have experience. Optima does not have a battery of the same form factor. So you'd likely not get the warranty with them if someone installed a different sized one. I don't know who makes the OEM battery that BMW installs but I suspect it's Bosch as well. Do a web search on the Bosch web site and the Pep Boys. You'll see they have the battery. Didn't cost anywhere near what the dealers want. Good luck Allen

M3 Battery in SoCal? Where can I get a good price for a new '02 M3 battery in SoCal? Any specs I should be aware of (CCA, etc?) Also, is this difficult to change out with the battery being under the rear seat? Thanks!
