Re: struts? If the play seems to be at the top of the strut then maybe the bearing is shot. Otherwise it could be slop in any of the ball joints or bushings letting the bottom (basically, the wheel) move around.

Did you tighten the three bolts at the bottom.
struts? I have a bad control arm and when I was under the car I noticed that the strut was also lose and would wiggle. I tried to tighten it up from the top of the strut to know avail. Any thoughts? -- Poe 85 535i 199k
