It is not that hard to do. Buy a Bentley's a new valve cover gasket, set of blade feeler gauges and have some fun. The money you save will more than pay for the Bentley's, tools, etc. I set mine so that the feeler gauge slightly drags when the adjusting nut is tight.

The gasket or to get someone else to adjust? valve cover gaskets are fairly cheap...bout $12-15. If you've never adjusted valves before, I recommend reading up 19 times on the procedure for BMWs. If off by a gnat's fanny on one valve your engine will have a lump in the idle.1985 528e (10/84) 1986 L7 (04/86) Newport Beach, CA

thanks but how much is that?
try a valve adjustment Its recurring maintenance on that engine. I replace the valve/cam cover gasket every other time I go in there. Otherwise, no parts should be required.
