Please go to lexus or mercedes

I'm going to unload here. If you work with a dealer and give them fives then they will be much more willing to work with you. Period. A lot of people's pay depends on that score you give. If you are adamant about giving low scores on a repeat basis then if I was inclined I would definately not be encouraged to help you in the repair of your vehicle. That's the way it is. Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. I have assisted many owners in situations where there was absolutely no obligation to help them at all, but simply because of their consistent good csi scores and loyalty they recived assistance. With your statements and scores of 1's I would not give you any assistance whatsoever. Take your 1's to Mercedes or Lexus. Good riddance. Their products break too. I only hope they show yoou the same respect you show have shown BMW.

I got that message as well as a cruise control malfunction message. When I got those messages, the car wouldn't turnover, so I had to have it towed to BMW dealership. It ended up being the transmission control module had shorted and needed to be replaced. I guess it's the part that tells the car whether it's in park or a different gear. Mine was also a 2004 530i. I also have been debating whether to trade it in for a Lexus or Benz or get an extended warranty. Anybody have suggestions for warranty? I looked on their website and found nothing. First BMW and I am not impressed with the vehicle or level of service. They plead with you to give them 5's when customer service surveys call. They get nothing but 1's from me

    Re: Trade in or not

I was thinking of having the tranny replaced but I have to really bring it to the BMW dealer it migh not be the tranny like you said it might be the battery.
BTW when they changed my starter the mechanic checked my battery and it was good. I don't really feel comfortable in trading it because I would only get 21k for it. Can't buy another one for 21k. I am sticking with it. esp. driven by a woman, owner. You know what I mean.

    Re: Trade in or not

the transmission issue COULD be related to low voltage. when the voltage gets too low ( alternator or weak battery ) you can get a message that the trans is in failsafe mode and has limited operation and you should drive moderately to a repair facility. as far as the starter, its not that common to have the starter fail, but there are a few here and there.
really this is a question that only you can answer whether to trade it in or not, do you feel comfortable with it and how do you feel buying another? BTW 550i is a sweet ride.

    Re: Trade in or not

After my warranty rans out, while driving back home from Augusta my transmission fault light shows up "tramission fault, drive moderately" did not stop or anything continued to drive at 45 -50 miles per hour, but I could hear the engine really having a hard time. Took it directly to the mechanic, he could not find what was wrong with it, except for dirty transmission fluid. After spending $540.00, two days past the same warning shows up again, but disappeared after cooling down for a couple of hours. Last week, the starter had to be replaced. But now I decided to stick with it since they only will trade for $21,000.00. Esp. the price of a 2008 goes up by $1,500.00. So far it is still running and the warning light has not shown up again. We heard the bimmers have a common problem with the transmission.

    Trade in or not

My first E60 (2004) after the warranty expired in January, 2008. I have been experiencing trouble after trouble. I do not know how long this will continue. Can anyone tell me if they have had the same problem. I love the car but my husband is getting impatient with it being unreliable. Trade in for a Mercedes C-class or not. Help please.
