What were the details of these "sick" loyalty programs on the 650 and M6. I got a quick quote on a 36mo. 0 down lease on a 650 cic, and was quoted about $1100/mo. If I can get the M6 in the $1200 range, I might just have to do that. Thanks.

I went from a 2000 M5 to an 04 645Ci SMG and couldn't be happier. It's down on power and the acceleration isn't quite as impressive but it isn't slow by any means. I have 68K miles on it and still love it every time I drive it. You'll save money as well which also makes it the more prudent choice of the three.

Are you in NJ? We have a friend in Burlington area that just got out of a 6er into an M5 AND an M3. Go to my site (in signature) to read his reviews. He visits here very rarely now that he no longer has his 6er cabrio. BTW he also comes twice a year to our fun filled drives of the TAIL of the DRAGON where you get to push all cars very hard all the time.

911 huh, talk about harsh. Now that is NOT an all day driver.

You guys are great. It's so weird...I go from saying to myself, it's the 6 to wanting to order that M3. Tomorrow I'm going to price out the 6 for a 2 to 2.5yr lease. It's not that I'm pedal to the metal all the time, but I do push my M3 and with the competition package, nothing better than downshifting and punching it through a curve. I'm afraid of giving all that up moving to the 6.

Regarding looks, I think the 6er is probably one of the finest looking vehicles on the road. Muscular, classy, refined all in one. It's a poor man's version of the Bently Coupe....IMO, both have the same aura about them.

One thing is for sure..If I go with the 6, I can't wait to have an excuse to drive somewhere very far because I'd imagine the car drives like a dream.....Gosh this is such a tough choice. I wish I had 250 more a month in my budget so I can just get a 911, but that will have to wait until business picks up and my sales guys get their act in gear.Don't eat Raw Fish

Re: M3 vs 650i vs M6...check this out!!

Dude! I'm 34 and I get a whole lot of looks on my 6er when driving it around all the time. I think the perception is only "older folks" are the ones that can usually afford this car. I think that is all BS. When I went to the 6 series free driving class in South Carolina's performance center, the people sitting in the first row were all in our age category or younger and the funny thing was that we all had iPhones on the table...lol

Age is just a number and I've seen all ages in the 6er and m3 as well. I suggest to keep test driving each car until you know what feels best for you. Keep us posted. Right now I feel I have the 2 best BMWs: 650 cabrio and the 135 coupe in my opinion.

Over 67k miles my average is 21.1 measured (not iDrive calculated). If you saw us at play on the Tail of the Dragon you would not think this is an "older" persons car. But at twice your age you have the right to think so. Most of my co-owners are far younger, including some real youngsters (us old farts call them "whipper-snappers) here and there. But BMW will be the first to tell you they targeted a mature demographic for the 6er. But especially in cabrio form it can be anybodies car. I for one will not have another chassis in BMW form and am anxiously awaiting the first 6er with a TTV8, even if in the current model.

Good luck in whatever your choice works out to be and let us know how it turns out.

Re: M3 vs 650i vs M6...check this out!!

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for the responses. I'm waiting to drive the 650i. I'm 33 and as mentioned, currently driving an 06 M3 comp package. I'm afraid, I'll feel pretentious or older driving the 6 though I know it's not an old man's car. This will be a very tough choice.

I've always loved the 6 series, but then will probably always wish it was the M6. At least with the M3, I probably won't ever say I wish it was the 650i, but then again a change in car may be nice.

200/month less for the 650 is tempting as well. Though it's not the main deciding factor, with the slumping economy, business being less than good, it does pay for about a tank of gas per week so it will be considered.

As for gas mileage, someone mentioned the 6 is the worst...No sure about that.Don't eat Raw Fish

Re: M3 vs 650i vs M6...check this out!!

I use to have a 2004 E46 M3 cabrio and went into a 650 afterwards and I loved it both coupe and convertible. I first went for an 2006 540 coupe Atlantic Blue, but then I missed having an open top so I traded it in for the 650 cabrio. Either one are both fun, I just like the open top. If the sunroof on the coupe was able to push back or remove I would have kept it. Don't get me wrong, the E46 M3 is an awesome car with manual transmission, but my passengers always complain when I drive up to lake tahoe that they feel dizzy and ride is too bumpy.

When I got the 650 the ride is still sporty and handles well, but has luxury feel to it. I think you get the best of both worlds on a 650. There is plenty enough of power and amazing handling for such a heavy weight (and you can't really feel the weight). It's very capable on twisty roads too!!

You can't go wrong with a 650. I average about 21 miles per gallon, which is not that bad for a V8.

Keep us posted on what you decide on.

Re: M3 vs 650i vs M6...check this out!!

I assume you have driven them all and otherwise do not find significant differences in the three?

I would have thought there were enough to make you pick the car over the cost per month. For me it is what I feel and like that make me pick the car - unless the preferred choice is way out of line cost wise.

I don't do Ms simply because I do not need the raw speed and the 6er is enough for my need for speed (even the puny 4.4l in the 645). I do many driving events and the 4.8s (650)have a hard time keeping up with my little 4.4l (645)

I won't upgrade until the V8tt is dropped in the 6er whenever that is (e63 or f12 chassis).

    M3 vs 650i vs M6...check this out!!

I'm pretty much set on getting a new M3, but there are some sick loyalty programs on the M6 and 650i. I want to get your opinion.

650i which is 13k more than an M3 finds itself 200/month less on lease per month.

M6 which is 106k a whopping 36k more expensive than the M3 I'm looking at is ONLY 130/MONTH MORE MONEY!!!!!

Now I know the M6 is probably a no brainer...duh...get the M6. The issue is I'm already well over budget on the M3 so though small amount of money, I can't really justify it and would feel way to guilty.

I currently drive an 06 M3. Do you think I'd be happy in a 650i loaded up with sports package etc???
