    Sounds terrific and I bet a pretty good deal in today's economic environment.

    I am not a power user of bluetooth or even cell phones (old v557) at all so I cannot help you directly there. However, the e60 (5 series) is identical in all electronic aspects to the 6er and there are a serious number of them out there. I would recommend to go to e 6 0.n e t (close up the spaces as Roadfly has a filter on for competing sites) and search on their "Bluetooth & Cell Phone" sub forum. If you do not find an answer then I recommend joining and posting your question there. I would have done it for you but would not have been able to answer any questions if any one had any.

    Thank you for your reply, I decided on an 08 650 zero miles with all the bells and whistles. Sport package, premium 7.1 sound Deep Sea Blue saddle interior, Five spoke 19" rims. It's basically the exact car in the new 6 Series brochure. I very happy with it. The only thing it is not equipped with is heads up display, and night vision. It has every other option. The only bug so far is, I have a new blackberry with nextel push to talk. The Bluetooth works perfect with the cell phone, but the 2 way push to talk tries to sync to car but only kills the signal or mutes it. I have to toggle between bluetooth and no bluetooth to operate my nextel. It would be great if it just didn't work, but it kidnaps the 2 way and you can't hear the person talking to you until you turn off the bluetooth. Any help on this would be great, or a way to program bluetooth from the car to be turned off and on from the steering wheel instead of having to fumble through my phone to do it. Help would be appreciated.

    Good choice as an alternate to the 850. This car will feel lighter thru BMWs use of electronic wizardry although they are nearly the same weight.

    Late MY05 645 is as far back as I would go. MY06 and newer are 650. Only true difference after the few bells and whistles you get in each MY progression is the 360/360 4.8l engine over the 325/330 4.4l in the 645. Software is a biggy on these as well. I have had 8 upgrades, some to get a new feature, some to fix an issue. Try to get a CPO and make sure as a condition of sale that they update to the latest software version (called PROGMAN). I keep a complete list of all software versions for the 6ers and the main impacts they had. That is all meaningless to you as you just want the latest, whatever it is. Both engines pull strong and are easy 5.1-5.7 0-60 performers but perform better at even higher speeds, much like the 850. With the Active Roll Stabilization it is amazing how flat this car is in the corners, you will not be dissapointed, again in comparison to the 8 rather than to a 1 or 3 series.

    Do try to get to get one still under warranty/CPO while you get used to it. Mostly bug free, but all cars have issues.

    Weak point is the heavy use of sensors and computer modules. I have had several replaced most under warranty, and a couple now under extended contracts ($50 deductable). I did just have to pay for warped rotors at 75k miles as they were not worn down enough to be covered under the extended "maintenance" agreement. In 76k miles my total out of pocket is now $610. I think you may find some folks that did get lemons and had some horror stories but all in all I call it well above average repair history NOT counting software upgrades.

    I personally know of several for sale (as they move up to M6) including one with DINAN mods. One cabrio and one coupe (DINAN). Well cared for a can be seen in action on the Tail of the Dragon videos I have posted on youtube under my cobradav handle. But they are MY05 and about to run out of warranty in first half of next year.

    Adding a 650, 850 going to retirement need help

    I would like some opinions and guidance on the purchase of a 645 or 650. I currently own an 850 and I am going to retire it to be second car weekend driver only. It is in mint condition, but as a daily driver its costing entirely too much to maintain(average $10,000 per year) I don't want to get into another 10K a year maintenance vehicle. Can someone shed some light on what to look for, what to stay away from, and general advice about the car. Need clarification and opinion on the warranty and maintenance programs? Are they worth it and what are some of the horror stories. The salesmen are promising a lot of security and very little worries with this car. Are they correct? I appreciate your help in advance. I've owned a 528, a 740, the 850 and now looking at a 6 series.
