There is but one filter, down behind the glove box

I'd not get the cheapest chinese model I could get, had one and didn't even put it in, just ordered OEM. But not aware of the charcoal filter. My opinion would be that it would do better on filtering odors, but honestly the problem is with larger stuff clogging them and limiting airflow, especially for the a/c. for this reason, not sure I'd spend 2x on one with charcoal-if that's what they cost.

PS, look for DIYs on the filter, they're several, many with good pics. You have to "snap" the plastic frame about 30% of the way in from both ends to get it worked into the filter housing, and make sure you get ALL the glove box screws back and into the anchors (metal clips around the plastic), less you get the dreadful drooping glovebox.

Which cabin (micro) filter - charcoal or regular - do you use in your E36? Is the charcoal one worth 2X the price? Why?
