    Re: 2005 645 vs 2006 650

Hardly any difference in reliability. Most gremlins were worked out by MY05. The later the build date in 2005 the better however, as just a few more things were improved in the non-driving electronics. Interior trim color switched to black (2006) from basalt gray (2004/5). I believe push button start (and possibly comfort access) started in MY06. And they may have separated Active Steering (AS) from the Sports Package in MY06. It was included in Sports package in MY04/05. I have always liked mine and have found it very useful on twisty roads as well as parking lots. Of course you have the bigger engine, more HP/torque, but hard to tell by the numbers. I never found a 650 that could outrun my 645 by anything more than a hair up to 100.
Make sure you get service history and also check on software updates. Look for frequency of service other than routine scheduled maintenance. I'd say you can't go wrong with either but certainly try to get CPO for a bit of peace of mind.

    2005 645 vs 2006 650

    Hi folks,

I am new to the 6 Series. I currently have an '06 BMW 330i that I am going to get rid of.

I am looking at both '05 645s and '06 650s. I know the 650 will probably cost more than a 645, but I was wondering which year is the more reliable one? What other criteria would you use to compare these two models?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
